Revelation 17:2-4

Good News Translation

²^(A)The kings of the earth practiced sexual immorality with her, and the people of the world became drunk from drinking the wine of her immorality.”

³^(B)The Spirit took control of me, and the angel carried me to a desert. There I saw a woman sitting on a red beast that had names insulting to God written all over it; the beast had seven heads and ten horns. ⁴^(C)The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and covered with gold ornaments, precious stones, and pearls. In her hand she held a gold cup full of obscene and filthy things, the result of her immorality.

²With her the kings of the earth committed adultery, and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries.”^(A)

³Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit^(B) into a wilderness.^(C) There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet^(D) beast that was covered with blasphemous names^(E) and had seven heads and ten horns.^(F) ⁴The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls.^(G) She held a golden cup^(H) in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries.^(I)
