15 The merchants of these things, who were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning; 16 saying, Woe, woe, the great city, she that was arrayed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and [a]decked with gold and precious stone and pearl! 17 for in one hour so great riches is made desolate. 15 The merchants who sold these things and gained their wealth from her(A) will stand far off,(B) terrified at her torment. They will weep and mourn(C) 16 and cry out:
“‘Woe! Woe to you, great city,(D)
dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet,
and glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls!(E)
17 In one hour(F) such great wealth has been brought to ruin!’(G)
“Every sea captain, and all who travel by ship, the sailors, and all who earn their living from the sea,(H) will stand far off.(I)
