15 The merchants of these things, who became rich from them, will stand far off[a], weeping and mourning because of the fear of her torment, 16 saying,
“Woe, woe, the great city,
dressed in fine linen and purple cloth and scarlet cloth,
and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls,
17 because in one hour such great wealth has been laid waste!”
And every shipmaster and every seafarer[b] and sailors and all those who labor on the sea stood far off[c]

15 The merchants who sold these things and gained their wealth from her(A) will stand far off,(B) terrified at her torment. They will weep and mourn(C) 16 and cry out:
“‘Woe! Woe to you, great city,(D)
dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet,
and glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls!(E)
17 In one hour(F) such great wealth has been brought to ruin!’(G)
“Every sea captain, and all who travel by ship, the sailors, and all who earn their living from the sea,(H) will stand far off.(I)
