14 And the wall of the city had (A)twelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the (B)twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15 The one who spoke with me had a [a]gold measuring (C)rod to measure the city, its (D)gates, and its wall. 16 The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width; and he measured the city with the [b]rod, [c]twelve thousand stadia; its length, width, and height are equal. 17 And he measured its wall, [d]144 cubits, by (E)human [e]measurements, which are also (F)angelic measurements. 18 The material of the wall was (G)jasper; and the city was (H)pure gold, like [f]clear (I)glass. 19 (J)The foundation stones of the city wall were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone was (K)jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, (L)emerald; 20 the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, (M)sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. 21 And the twelve (N)gates were twelve (O)pearls; each one of the gates was a single pearl. And the street of the city was (P)pure gold, like transparent (Q)glass.

22 I saw (R)no [g]temple in it, for the (S)Lord God the Almighty and the (T)Lamb are its [h]temple. 23 And the city (U)has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for (V)the glory of God has illuminated it, and its lamp is the (W)Lamb. 24 (X)The nations will walk by its light, and the (Y)kings of the earth [i]will bring their glory into it. 25 In the daytime (for (Z)there will be no night there) (AA)its gates (AB)will never be closed; 26 and (AC)they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; 27 and (AD)nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those [j]whose names are (AE)written in the Lamb’s book of life.

14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations,(A) and on them were the names of the twelve apostles(B) of the Lamb.

15 The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod(C) of gold to measure the city, its gates(D) and its walls. 16 The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia[a] in length, and as wide and high as it is long. 17 The angel measured the wall using human(E) measurement, and it was 144 cubits[b] thick.[c] 18 The wall was made of jasper,(F) and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass.(G) 19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone.(H) The first foundation was jasper,(I) the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby,(J) the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.[d] 21 The twelve gates(K) were twelve pearls,(L) each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.(M)

22 I did not see a temple(N) in the city, because the Lord God Almighty(O) and the Lamb(P) are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God(Q) gives it light,(R) and the Lamb(S) is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.(T) 25 On no day will its gates(U) ever be shut,(V) for there will be no night there.(W) 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it.(X) 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful,(Y) but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.(Z)
