Romans 6:3-6
New American Standard Bible
3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been (A)baptized into (B)Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we have been (C)buried with Him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was (D)raised from the dead through the (E)glory of the Father, so we too may walk in (F)newness of life. 5 For (G)if we have become [a]united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be [b]in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our (H)old [c]self was (I)crucified with Him, in order that our (J)body of sin might be [d]done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;

Amplified Bible
3 Or are you ignorant of the fact that all of us who have been [a]baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 We have therefore been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory and power of the Father, we too might walk habitually in newness of life [abandoning our old ways]. 5 For if we have become one with Him [permanently united] in the likeness of His death, we will also certainly be [one with Him and share fully] in the likeness of His resurrection. 6 We know that our old [b]self [our human nature without the Holy Spirit] was nailed to the cross with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin.

- Romans 6:3 “Baptize” is a transliteration of the Greek word baptizo, which means to submerge an object into liquid. In this passage Christ becomes the liquid, metaphorically, and those who are baptized into Him remain in Him forever and benefit from His experiences, including His death. The best news is that Jesus was resurrected, so believers will also experience resurrection (those who are alive when Christ returns will experience a physical transformation). But even now believers experience a kind of resurrection in that they live new lives (as Paul says, “walk in newness of life”) in a wonderful new relationship with God and their fellow believers.

Romans 6:3-6
New International Version
3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized(A) into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death(B) in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead(C) through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.(D)
5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.(E) 6 For we know that our old self(F) was crucified with him(G) so that the body ruled by sin(H) might be done away with,[a] that we should no longer be slaves to sin(I)—

Romans 6:3-6
King James Version
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
