¹⁸ and after being ^(A)freed from sin, you became slaves to righteousness.

²² But now having been ^(A)freed from sin and ^(B)enslaved to God, you ^[a]derive your ^[b](C)benefit, ^[c]resulting in sanctification, and ^(D)the outcome, eternal life.

¹³ I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him ^(A)who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because ^(B)you have overcome ^(C)the evil one. I have written to you, children, because ^(D)you know the Father.

⁵ Who is the one who overcomes the world, but the one who ^(A)believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

⁴ For ^[a]whoever has been ^(A)born of God ^(B)overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.

⁹ No one who has been ^(A)born of God practices sin, because His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin continually, because he has been born of God. ¹⁰ By this the ^(B)children of God and the ^(C)children of the devil are obvious: ^[a]anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who ^(D)does not love his ^(E)brother and sister.

^18 (A)We know that ^(B)no one who has been born of God ^[a]sins; but He who was born of God ^(C)keeps him, and ^(D)the evil one does not ^(E)touch him.

¹³ looking for the blessed hope and the ^(A)appearing of the glory of ^[a](B)our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, ¹⁴ who ^(C)gave Himself for us ^(D)to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to ^(E)purify for Himself a ^(F)people for His own possession, ^(G)eager for good deeds.
