¹⁷ and if children, ^(A)heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, ^(B)if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

¹⁴ For all who are ^(A)being led by the Spirit of God, these are ^(B)sons and daughters of God.

⁵ and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons,

⁷ It is for discipline that you endure; ^(E)God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? ⁸ But if you are without discipline, ^(F)of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.

¹² So then, my beloved, ^(A)just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own ^(B)salvation with ^(C)fear and trembling; ¹³ for it is ^(D)God who is at work in you, both to ^[a]desire and to work ^(E)for His good pleasure.

¹⁴ Do all things without ^(F)complaining or arguments; ¹⁵ so that you will ^[b]prove yourselves to be ^(G)blameless and innocent, ^(H)children of God above reproach in the midst of a ^(I)crooked and perverse generation, among whom you ^[c](J)appear as ^[d]lights in the world,

^2 (A)Beloved, now we are ^(B)children of God, and ^(C)it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He ^(D)appears, we will be ^(E)like Him, because we will ^(F)see Him just as He is. ³ And everyone who has this ^(G)hope set on Him ^(H)purifies himself, just as He is pure.

⁵ for you are all ^(A)sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of ^(B)darkness;

⁸ But since ^(A)we are of the day, let’s ^(B)be ^[a]sober, having put on the ^(C)breastplate of ^(D)faith and love, and as a ^(E)helmet, the ^(F)hope of salvation.
