¹⁷ and if children, then ^(A)heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, ^(B)if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

¹⁴ For ^(A)as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons:

^7 (C)If^[b] you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what ^(D)son is there whom a father does not chasten? ⁸ But if you are without chastening, ^(E)of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.

Light Bearers

¹² Therefore, my beloved, ^(A)as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, ^(B)work out your own salvation with ^(C)fear and trembling; ¹³ for ^(D)it is God who works in you both to will and to do ^(E)for His good pleasure.

¹⁴ Do all things ^(F)without ^[a]complaining and ^(G)disputing,^{[b] 15} that you may become blameless and ^[c]harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as ^(H)lights in the world,

² Beloved, ^(A)now we are children of God; and ^(B)it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, ^(C)we shall be like Him, for ^(D)we shall see Him as He is. ^3 (E)And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

⁵ You are all ^(A)sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.

⁸ But let us who are of the day be sober, ^(A)putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.
