19 (A)Never take your own revenge, beloved, but [a]leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written: “(B)Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 “(C)But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

19 Do not take revenge,(A) my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[a](B) says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”[b](C)
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
