Romans 1:8-10 The Passion Translation (TPT)

Paul’s Desire to Visit Rome

I give thanks to God for all of you,[a] because it’s through your conversion to Jesus Christ, that the testimony of your strong, persistent faith is spreading throughout the world. And God knows that I pray for you continually and at all times. For I passionately serve and worship him with my spirit in the gospel of his Son.

10 My desire and constant prayer is that I would be able to come and visit you,[b] according to the plan and timing of God.[c]

Footnotes:

  1. Romans 1:8 It was Paul’s constant habit to thank God for any grace he found within any believer.
  2. Romans 1:10 As translated from the Aramaic. The Greek is “that I may have a smooth and prosperous journey to you.” But in fact, Paul had a very difficult journey to Rome, first traveling by ship, enduring a shipwreck, and being bitten by a snake. See Acts 27–28. One can only imagine what would have happened if Paul had not prayed for a smooth and prosperous journey!
  3. Romans 1:10 Or “as God prospers me along the path of his will.”
