And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you despise (A)the riches of His goodness, (B)forbearance, and (C)longsuffering, (D)not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? But in accordance with your hardness and your [a]impenitent heart (E)you are [b]treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who (F)“will render to each one according to his deeds”: eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and (G)do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath,

But do you suppose this, [a](A)you foolish person who passes judgment on those who practice such things, and yet does them as well, that you will escape the judgment of God? But do you think this, O man, when you judge and condemn those who practice such things, and yet do the same yourself, that you will escape God’s judgment and elude His verdict? Or do you have no regard for the wealth of His kindness and tolerance and patience [in withholding His wrath]? Are you [actually] unaware or ignorant [of the fact] that God’s kindness leads you to repentance [that is, to change your inner self, your old way of thinking—seek His purpose for your life]? But because of your callous stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are [deliberately] storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. But for those who are selfishly ambitious and self-seeking and disobedient to the truth but responsive to wickedness, [there will be] wrath and indignation.
