²⁸For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.^(A)

²⁸Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

⁶David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:

⁶Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

³³who through faith conquered kingdoms,^(A) administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions,^(B)

³³Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.
