Of course not! God must be true, though every human being is a liar,[a] as it is written:

“That you may be justified in your words,
    and conquer when you are judged.”(A)

But if our wickedness provides proof of God’s righteousness, what can we say? Is God unjust, humanly speaking, to inflict his wrath?(B) Of course not! For how else is God to judge the world?

But if our unrighteousness brings out God’s righteousness more clearly,(D) what shall we say? That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? (I am using a human argument.)(E) Certainly not! If that were so, how could God judge the world?(F)
