5 If our unrighteousness makes the righteousness of God more excellent, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous, who takes vengeance? I speak after the manner of men. 6 God forbid, for how then will God judge the world? 7 If the truth of God appears more excellent through my lie, to his glory, why am I still judged as a sinner?

5 But if our unrighteousness brings out God’s righteousness more clearly,(A) what shall we say? That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? (I am using a human argument.)(B) 6 Certainly not! If that were so, how could God judge the world?(C) 7 Someone might argue, “If my falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness and so increases his glory,(D) why am I still condemned as a sinner?”(E)
