Romans 4:18-22

¹⁸who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, ^(A)“So shall your descendants be.” ¹⁹And not being weak in faith, ^(B)he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), ^(C)and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. ²⁰He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, ²¹and being fully convinced that what He had promised ^(D)He was also able to perform. ²²And therefore ^(E)“it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

¹⁸Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations,^(A) just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”^[a]^(B) ¹⁹Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead^(C)—since he was about a hundred years old^(D)—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead.^(E) ²⁰Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened^(F) in his faith and gave glory to God,^(G) ²¹being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.^(H) ²²This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.”^(I)
