New International Version

⁹For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead,^(A) he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.^(B)

⁹For to this end Christ ^(A)died and lived again, that he might be Lord both ^(B)of the dead and of the living.

⁹For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life^(A) so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.^(B)
