Romans 9:29-31

New American Standard Bible

²⁹And just as Isaiah foretold:

“^(A)If ^(B)the Lord ^[a]of armies had not left us ^[b]^(C)descendants,
^(D)We would have become like Sodom, and would have ^[c]been like Gomorrah.”

³⁰^(E)What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, but ^(F)the righteousness that is ^[d]by faith; ³¹however, Israel, ^(G)pursuing a law of righteousness, did not ^(H)arrive at that law.

had left us descendants,
we would have become like Sodom,
we would have been like Gomorrah.”^[a]^(B)

Israel’s Unbelief

³⁰What then shall we say?^(C) That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;^(D) ³¹but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness,^(E) have not attained their goal.^(F)
