Romans 9:29-31

²⁹And as Isaiah said before: If the Lord of Sabaoth had not left us a seed, we would have been made as Sodom, and would have been likened to Gomorrah.

³⁰What shall we say then? We say that the Gentiles, who did not follow righteousness, have found righteousness; I mean, the righteousness which comes of faith. ³¹But Israel, who followed the law of righteousness, could not attain to the law of righteousness.

²⁹It is just as Isaiah said previously:

“Unless the Lord Almighty^(A)
had left us descendants,
we would have become like Sodom,
we would have been like Gomorrah.”^[a]^(B)

Israel’s Unbelief

³⁰What then shall we say?^(C) That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;^(D) ³¹but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness,^(E) have not attained their goal.^(F)
