³ Or do you not know that ^(A)as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus ^(B)were baptized into His death? ⁴ Therefore we were ^(C)buried with Him through baptism into death, that ^(D)just as Christ was raised from the dead by ^(E)the glory of the Father, ^(F)even so we also should walk in newness of life.

^12 (A)buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through ^(B)faith in the working of God, ^(C)who raised Him from the dead.

John Baptizes Jesus^(A)

^13 (B)Then Jesus came ^(C)from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. ¹⁴ And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?”

¹⁵ But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.

^16 (D)When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and ^[a]He saw ^(E)the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. ^17 (F)And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, ^(G)“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

¹² But when they believed Philip as he preached the things ^(A)concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized. ¹³ Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done.

³⁶ Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. ^(A)What hinders me from being baptized?”

^37 [a]Then Philip said, ^(B)“If you believe with all your heart, you may.”

And he answered and said, ^(C)“I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

³⁸ So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. ³⁹ Now when they came up out of the water, ^(D)the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing.

⁴⁷ “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit ^(A)just as we have?” ^48 (B)And he commanded them to be baptized ^(C)in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.
