11 they must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for sordid gain what it is not right to teach.(A) 12 It was one of them, their very own prophet, who said,
“Cretans are always liars, vicious brutes, lazy gluttons.”
13 That testimony is true. For this reason rebuke them sharply, so that they may become sound in the faith,(B)

11 They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households(A) by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain. 12 One of Crete’s own prophets(B) has said it: “Cretans(C) are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”[a] 13 This saying is true. Therefore rebuke(D) them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith(E)
