6 (A)if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife,[a] and his children are believers and not open to the charge of (B)debauchery or insubordination. 7 For an overseer,[b] (C)as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not (D)be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent (E)or greedy for gain, 8 but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, (F)and disciplined. 9 He must (G)hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in (H)sound[c] doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

6 An elder must be blameless,(A) faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe[a] and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. 7 Since an overseer(B) manages God’s household,(C) he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.(D) 8 Rather, he must be hospitable,(E) one who loves what is good,(F) who is self-controlled,(G) upright, holy and disciplined. 9 He must hold firmly(H) to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine(I) and refute those who oppose it.

9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
