Christian Standard Bible
8 This saying is trustworthy.(A) I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed God might be careful to devote themselves to good works. These are good and profitable for everyone. 9 But avoid foolish debates,(B) genealogies,(C) quarrels,(D) and disputes about the law, because they are unprofitable and worthless. 10 Reject a divisive(E) person after a first and second warning.(F)

New International Version
8 This is a trustworthy saying.(A) And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good.(B) These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
9 But avoid(C) foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels(D) about the law,(E) because these are unprofitable and useless.(F) 10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them.(G)
