24 Markaasaa Yashuuca qabiilooyinkii reer binu Israa'iil oo dhan ku soo ururshay Shekem, oo wuxuu u yeedhay waayeelladii reer binu Israa'iil, iyo madaxdoodii, iyo xaakinnadoodii, iyo saraakiishoodii, oo waxay kulligood ku soo urureen Ilaah hortiisa. 2 Oo Yashuuca wuxuu dadkii oo dhan ku yidhi, Rabbiga ah Ilaaha reer binu Israa'iil wuxuu leeyahay, Awowayaashiin waxay waa hore degganaan jireen Webigii shishadiisa, oo waxaa ka mid ahaa Terax oo ahaa aabbihii Ibraahim iyo Naaxoor; waxayna u adeegi jireen ilaahyo kale. 3 Markaasaan awowgiin Ibraahim ka soo kexeeyey Webiga shishadiisa, oo aan dhex mariyey dalka Kancaan oo dhan, oo farcankiisiina waan badiyey, oo waxaan siiyey Isxaaq. 4 Isxaaqna waxaan siiyey Yacquub iyo Ceesaw; Ceesawna waxaan Buur Seciir u siiyey inuu hantiyo, oo Yacquub iyo carruurtiisiina waxay ku dhaadhaceen xagga dalka Masar. 5 Oo markaasaan soo diray Muuse iyo Haaruun, oo Masarna belaayaan ku riday, sidii wixii aan dhexdooda ku sameeyey; oo dabadeedna waan idinka soo saaray. 6 Oo awowayaashiin waxaan ka soo saaray Masar, oo markaasaad timaadeen badda; oo Masriyiintiina awowayaashiin ayay ku sii eryadeen gaadhifardood, iyo fardooley, ilaa ay yimaadeen Badda Cas. 7 Oo markay Rabbiga u qayshadeen ayuu gudcur kala dhex dhigay idinka iyo Masriyiintii, oo badduu ku soo daayay oo ku daboolay; oo indhihiinnaad ku aragteen wixii aan ku sameeyey Masar; oo idinna maalmo badan ayaad cidlada degganaydeen. 8 Oo markaasaan idin keenay dalkii reer Amor, kuwaasoo degganaa Webi Urdun shishadiisa, oo iyana way idinla dirireen; kolkaasaan gacanta idiin geliyey, oo dalkoodiina waad hantideen, iyagiina hortiinna waan ka baabbi'iyey. 9 Dabadeedna waxaa kacay boqorkii Moo'aab oo ahaa Baalaaq ina Sifoor, oo wuxuu la diriray reer binu Israa'iil, markaasuu u yeedhay oo idiinku soo diray inuu idin habaaro Balcaam ina Becoor. 10 Laakiinse anigu Balcaam ma aanan dhegaysan; sidaas daraaddeed weliba wuu idiin sii duceeyey; oo sidaasaan gacantiisii idiinka samatabbixiyey. 11 Oo idinku waxaad ka soo gudubteen Webi Urdun oo aad timaadeen Yerixoo, oo dadkii reer Yerixoo way idinla dagaallameen, kuwaasu waxay ahaayeen reer Amor, iyo reer Feris, iyo reer Kancaan, iyo reer Xeed, iyo reer Girgaash, iyo reer Xiwi, iyo reer Yebuus, oo anna dhammaantood gacantaan idiin geliyey. 12 Oo waxaan idinka hor mariyey xoonkii hortiinna ka eryay iyagii oo ahaa xataa labadii boqor oo reer Amor, oo kuwaas kuma aadan eryin seeftaada iyo qaansadaada toona. 13 Oo waxaan idin siiyey dal aydnaan u hawshoon, iyo magaalooyin aydnaan dhisan, oo waad iska dhex degtaan, oo waxaad ka cuntaan canab iyo saytuun aydnaan beeran. 14 Haddaba Rabbiga ka cabsada, oo daacad iyo run ugu adeega; oo iska fogeeya ilaahyadii awowayaashiin ugu adeegi jireen Webiga shishadiisa, iyo dalka Masar dhexdiisa, oo idinku waxaad u adeegtaan Rabbiga. 15 Oo hadday shar idinla tahay inaad Rabbiga u adeegtaan, haddaba maanta doorta kii aad u adeegi doontaan, ama ha noqoto ilaahyadii awowayaashiin ugu adeegi jireen Webiga shishadiisa, ama ilaahyada reer Amor, kuwaas oo aad dalkoodii deggan tihiin; laakiinse aniga iyo reerkayguba waxaannu u adeegi doonaa Rabbiga. 16 Kolkaasaa dadkii waxay ugu jawaabeen, Ilaah ha naga fogeeyo inaannu Rabbiga ka tagno oo aannu u adeegno ilaahyo kale; 17 waayo, Rabbiga Ilaaheenna ahu waa kii innaga iyo awowayaasheenba inaga soo saaray dalkii Masar oo ahaa gurigii addoonsiga, oo isagu waa kii calaamooyinkaas waaweyn ku sameeyey horteenna oo inagu dhawrayay jidkii aan soo marnay oo dhan, oo inaga samatabbixiyey dadkii aynu soo dhex soconnay oo dhan. 18 Oo Rabbigu wuxuu horteenna ka eryay dadkii oo dhan, iyo xataa reer Amor oo dalka degganaa; oo sidaas daraaddeed annaguna waxaannu u adeegi doonnaa Rabbiga, maxaa yeelay, isagu waa Ilaahayo. 19 Markaasaa Yashuuca wuxuu dadkii ku yidhi, Rabbiga uma aad adeegi kartaan; waayo, isagu waa Ilaah quduus ah; oo waa Ilaah masayr[a] ah, oo isagu idinkama cafiyi doono xadgudubkiinna iyo dembiyadiinna toona. 20 Oo markuu wax wanaagsan idiin sameeyo dabadeed, haddaad Rabbiga ka tagtaan, oo aad u adeegtaan ilaahyo qalaad, de markaas wuu soo jeesan doonaa oo wax xun buu idinku samayn doonaa, oo wuu idin baabbi'in doonaa. 21 Markaasaa dadkii waxay Yashuuca ku yidhaahdeen, Maya; laakiinse annagu Rabbiga waannu u adeegi doonnaa. 22 Yashuucana wuxuu dadkii ku yidhi, Idinka qudhiinnaa isku marag furaya inaad doorateen Rabbiga oo aad isaga u adeegaysaan. Kolkaasay yidhaahdeen, Annagaa ka marag ah. 23 Kolkaasuu yidhi, Haddaba iska fogeeya ilaahyada qalaad oo idinku dhex jira, oo qalbigiinna u jeediya Rabbiga ah Ilaaha reer binu Israa'iil. 24 Markaasaa dadkii waxay Yashuuca ku yidhaahdeen, Annagu waxaannu u adeegi doonnaa Rabbiga Ilaahayaga ah, oo weliba codkiisaannu maqli doonnaa. 25 Taas daraaddeed maalintaas ayaa Yashuuca dadkii axdi la dhigtay, oo Shekem buu ugu dejiyey qaynuun iyo amar. 26 Markaasaa Yashuuca erayadan ku qoray kitaabkii sharcigii Ilaah; oo dhagax weyn buu qaaday, oo wuxuu hoos qotonshay geedkii ku ag yiil taambuugga quduuskaa oo Rabbiga. 27 Yashuucana wuxuu dadkii oo dhan ku yidhi, Bal ogaada, dhagaxanaa inagu marag furi doonee; waayo, wuxuu maqlay erayadii Rabbiga oo uu inagula hadlay oo dhan; sidaas daraaddeed wuxuu idinku noqon doonaa marag, si aydnaan Ilaahiinna u inkirin.

The Covenant Renewed at Shechem
24 Then Joshua assembled(A) all the tribes of Israel at Shechem.(B) He summoned(C) the elders,(D) leaders, judges and officials of Israel,(E) and they presented themselves before God.
2 Joshua said to all the people, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Long ago your ancestors, including Terah the father of Abraham and Nahor,(F) lived beyond the Euphrates River and worshiped other gods.(G) 3 But I took your father Abraham from the land beyond the Euphrates and led him throughout Canaan(H) and gave him many descendants.(I) I gave him Isaac,(J) 4 and to Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau.(K) I assigned the hill country of Seir(L) to Esau, but Jacob and his family went down to Egypt.(M)
5 “‘Then I sent Moses and Aaron,(N) and I afflicted the Egyptians by what I did there, and I brought you out.(O) 6 When I brought your people out of Egypt, you came to the sea,(P) and the Egyptians pursued them with chariots and horsemen[a](Q) as far as the Red Sea.[b](R) 7 But they cried(S) to the Lord for help, and he put darkness(T) between you and the Egyptians; he brought the sea over them and covered them.(U) You saw with your own eyes what I did to the Egyptians.(V) Then you lived in the wilderness for a long time.(W)
8 “‘I brought you to the land of the Amorites(X) who lived east of the Jordan. They fought against you, but I gave them into your hands. I destroyed them from before you, and you took possession of their land.(Y) 9 When Balak son of Zippor,(Z) the king of Moab, prepared to fight against Israel, he sent for Balaam son of Beor(AA) to put a curse on you.(AB) 10 But I would not listen to Balaam, so he blessed you(AC) again and again, and I delivered you out of his hand.
11 “‘Then you crossed the Jordan(AD) and came to Jericho.(AE) The citizens of Jericho fought against you, as did also the Amorites, Perizzites,(AF) Canaanites, Hittites, Girgashites, Hivites and Jebusites,(AG) but I gave them into your hands.(AH) 12 I sent the hornet(AI) ahead of you, which drove them out(AJ) before you—also the two Amorite kings. You did not do it with your own sword and bow.(AK) 13 So I gave you a land(AL) on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.’(AM)
14 “Now fear the Lord(AN) and serve him with all faithfulness.(AO) Throw away the gods(AP) your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt,(AQ) and serve the Lord. 15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites,(AR) in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household,(AS) we will serve the Lord.”(AT)
16 Then the people answered, “Far be it from us to forsake(AU) the Lord to serve other gods! 17 It was the Lord our God himself who brought us and our parents up out of Egypt, from that land of slavery,(AV) and performed those great signs(AW) before our eyes. He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we traveled. 18 And the Lord drove out(AX) before us all the nations,(AY) including the Amorites, who lived in the land.(AZ) We too will serve the Lord, because he is our God.(BA)”
19 Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve the Lord. He is a holy God;(BB) he is a jealous God.(BC) He will not forgive(BD) your rebellion(BE) and your sins. 20 If you forsake the Lord(BF) and serve foreign gods, he will turn(BG) and bring disaster(BH) on you and make an end of you,(BI) after he has been good to you.”
21 But the people said to Joshua, “No! We will serve the Lord.”
22 Then Joshua said, “You are witnesses(BJ) against yourselves that you have chosen(BK) to serve the Lord.”
“Yes, we are witnesses,(BL)” they replied.
23 “Now then,” said Joshua, “throw away the foreign gods(BM) that are among you and yield your hearts(BN) to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
24 And the people said to Joshua, “We will serve the Lord our God and obey him.”(BO)
25 On that day Joshua made a covenant(BP) for the people, and there at Shechem(BQ) he reaffirmed for them decrees and laws.(BR) 26 And Joshua recorded(BS) these things in the Book of the Law of God.(BT) Then he took a large stone(BU) and set it up there under the oak(BV) near the holy place of the Lord.
27 “See!” he said to all the people. “This stone(BW) will be a witness(BX) against us. It has heard all the words the Lord has said to us. It will be a witness against you if you are untrue(BY) to your God.”(BZ)
28 Then Joshua dismissed the people, each to their own inheritance.(CA)
Buried in the Promised Land(CB)
29 After these things, Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died(CC) at the age of a hundred and ten.(CD) 30 And they buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath Serah[c](CE) in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash.(CF)
31 Israel served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and of the elders(CG) who outlived him and who had experienced everything the Lord had done for Israel.
32 And Joseph’s bones,(CH) which the Israelites had brought up from Egypt,(CI) were buried at Shechem in the tract of land(CJ) that Jacob bought for a hundred pieces of silver[d] from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem. This became the inheritance of Joseph’s descendants.
33 And Eleazar son of Aaron(CK) died and was buried at Gibeah,(CL) which had been allotted to his son Phinehas(CM) in the hill country(CN) of Ephraim.

2 And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.
3 And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.
4 And I gave unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave unto Esau mount Seir, to possess it; but Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.
5 I sent Moses also and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did among them: and afterward I brought you out.
6 And I brought your fathers out of Egypt: and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and horsemen unto the Red sea.

15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
16 And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the Lord, to serve other gods;
17 For the Lord our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:
18 And the Lord drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the Lord; for he is our God.
19 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the Lord: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.
20 If ye forsake the Lord, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.
21 And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the Lord.
22 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the Lord, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.
23 Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the Lord God of Israel.
24 And the people said unto Joshua, The Lord our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.
25 So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.
26 And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of the Lord.
27 And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the Lord which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.
28 So Joshua let the people depart, every man unto his inheritance.
29 And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died, being an hundred and ten years old.
30 And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathserah, which is in mount Ephraim, on the north side of the hill of Gaash.
31 And Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua, and which had known all the works of the Lord, that he had done for Israel.
32 And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.
33 And Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in a hill that pertained to Phinehas his son, which was given him in mount Ephraim.
