16 I am about to raise up a shepherd in the land who will not care for those who are perishing, and he will not seek the lost[a] or heal the broken. He will not sustain the healthy,[b] but he will devour the flesh of the fat sheep(A) and tear off their hooves.

17 Woe to the worthless shepherd
who deserts the flock!(B)
May a sword strike[c] his arm
and his right eye!
May his arm wither away
and his right eye go completely blind!”

17 Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.
