(A)He answered, “These are the four winds; they have just come from the presence of the Lord of all the earth.”

The chariot pulled by the black horses was going north to Babylonia, the white horses were going to the west, and the dappled horses were going to the country in the south. As the dappled horses came out, they were impatient to go and inspect the earth. The angel said, “Go and inspect the earth!”—and they did.

The angel answered me, “These are the four spirits[a](A) of heaven, going out from standing in the presence of the Lord of the whole world.(B) The one with the black horses is going toward the north country, the one with the white horses toward the west,[b] and the one with the dappled horses toward the south.”

When the powerful horses went out, they were straining to go throughout the earth.(C) And he said, “Go throughout the earth!” So they went throughout the earth.
