The just Lord resides[a] within her;
he commits no unjust acts.[b]
Every morning he reveals[c] his justice.
At dawn he appears without fail.[d]
Yet the unjust know no shame.

The Lord’s Judgment will Purify

“I destroyed[e] nations;
their walled cities[f] are in ruins.
I turned their streets into ruins;
no one passes through them.
Their cities are desolate;[g]
no one lives there.[h]
I thought,[i] ‘Certainly you will respect[j] me!
Now you will accept correction!’
If she had done so, her home[k] would not be destroyed[l]

“I have destroyed nations;
    their strongholds are demolished.
I have left their streets deserted,

Their cities are laid waste;(F)
    they are deserted and empty.
Of Jerusalem I thought,
    ‘Surely you will fear me
