Then this Daniel became (A)distinguished above all (B)the other high officials and (C)satraps, because (D)an excellent spirit was in him. And the king planned (E)to set him over the whole kingdom. Then (F)the high officials and (G)the satraps (H)sought to find a ground for complaint against Daniel with regard to the kingdom, (I)but they could find no ground for complaint or any fault, because he was faithful, (J)and no error or fault was found in him. Then these men said, “We shall not find any ground for complaint against this Daniel unless we find it in connection with the law of his God.”

Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.(A) At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges(B) against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.”(C)
