The Temple of the Living God
14 (A)Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For (B)what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or (C)what fellowship has light with darkness? 15 (D)What accord has Christ with Belial?[a] Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For (E)we are the temple of the living God; as God said,
(F)“I will make my dwelling among them and (G)walk among them,
and (H)I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.
17 Therefore (I)go out from their midst,
and be separate from them, says the Lord,
and touch no unclean thing;
then I will welcome you,
18 (J)and I will be a father to you,
and you shall be sons and daughters to me,
says the Lord Almighty.”

Warning Against Idolatry
14 Do not be yoked together(A) with unbelievers.(B) For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?(C) 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial[a]?(D) Or what does a believer(E) have in common with an unbeliever?(F) 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols?(G) For we are the temple(H) of the living God.(I) As God has said:
“I will live with them
and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”[b](J)
17 Therefore,
“Come out from them(K)
and be separate,
says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you.”[c](L)

Do Not Love the World
15 (A)Do not love the world or the things in the world. (B)If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—(C)the desires of the flesh and (D)the desires of the eyes and pride of life[a]—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And (E)the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

On Not Loving the World
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world.(A) If anyone loves the world, love for the Father[a] is not in them.(B) 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh,(C) the lust of the eyes,(D) and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away,(E) but whoever does the will of God(F) lives forever.

14 As obedient children, (A)do not be conformed to the passions (B)of your former ignorance, 15 but (C)as he who called you is holy, you also be holy (D)in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, (E)“You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 17 And if you (F)call on him as Father who (G)judges (H)impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves (I)with fear throughout the time of your exile, 18 knowing that you (J)were ransomed from (K)the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but (L)with the precious blood of Christ, like that of (M)a lamb (N)without blemish or spot.

14 As obedient(A) children, do not conform(B) to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.(C) 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;(D) 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”[a](E)
17 Since you call on a Father(F) who judges each person’s work(G) impartially,(H) live out your time as foreigners(I) here in reverent fear.(J) 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed(K) from the empty way of life(L) handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood(M) of Christ, a lamb(N) without blemish or defect.(O)

6 (A)Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that (B)a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7 Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8 Let us therefore celebrate the festival, (C)not with the old leaven, (D)the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
