  1. Cain talked to his brother Abel; and it happened that when they were in the field Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him.

  17. Now then, come and let’s kill him, and throw him into one of the pits; and we will say, ‘A vicious animal devoured him.’ Then we will see what will become of his dreams!”
  18. And Judah said to his brothers, “What profit is it for us to kill our brother and cover up his blood?
  19. May my soul not enter into their council; May my glory not be united with their assembly; For in their anger they killed men, And in their self-will they lamed oxen.
  20. So he looked this way and that, and when he saw that there was no one around, he struck and killed the Egyptian, and hid his body in the sand.
  21. But he said, “Who made you a ruler and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and said, “Surely the matter has become known!”
