2. Regulations for the high priest (21:10-15)

Even stricter regulations are required of the high priest. He is forbidden mourning altogether, even for his immediate family, save possibly his wife. Outward signs of mourning such as tearing one’s clothes (v.10) are not to be practiced by the high priest. Like the priests, he is forbidden marriage to a prostitute or a divorcée, but for him marriage to a widow is also prohibited. He must marry a virgin from among the Israelites (v.14).
