ADONIKAM ăd’ ə nī’ kəm (אֲדֹ֣נִיקָ֔ם, my lord has risen). The name of one of the families that returned from exile (Ezra 2:13; Neh 7:18). The descendants of Adonikam are given as 666 in the Ezra list and 667 in the Nehemiah list. In these two lists involving 153 ciphers each, twenty-nine differ of which thirteen cases involve a difference of one unit. H. L. Allrik has ably discussed this problem in his article “Lists of Zerubbabel”: Neh 7: and Ezra 2: BASOR, 136 (1954), 21-27. For further references to this name see Ezra 8:13; Nehemiah 10:16 and 1 Esdras 5:14; 8:39.
