AMPLIATUS ăm’ plĭ ā’ təs (̓Αμπλιᾶτος, G309); KJV AMPLIAS ăm’ plĭ əs (̓Αμπλιᾶς, shortened form of ̓Αμπλιᾶτος, G309). A Christian living in Rome to whom Paul sends greetings and to whom he refers as “my beloved in the Lord” (Rom 16:8). His name was common in ancient Rome. It is found twice in the cemetery of Domitilla at Rome, the older of the two inscrs. dating from about the end of the 1st cent. a.d.
