ARBATTA är băt’ ə (̓Αρβάττα; KJV ARBATTIS är bǎt’ ǐs). A district of Pal. from which Simon Maccabeus brought to Jerusalem some Jews who were in danger of attack by Gentile forces (1 Macc 5:21ff.). It cannot be identified with certainty. Among places suggested have been the plain through which the Jordan flows into the Lake of Galilee; a toparchy W of Samaria, bordering upon Galilee; and Arubboth.
