FLESHHOOK. KJV tr. of מַזְלֵג, H4657, (1 Sam 2:13, 14) or מִזְלָגָה, H4658, (Exod 27:3; 38:3; Num 4:14; 1 Chron 28:17; 2 Chron 4:16), tr. by modern versions as “fork.” It was one of the implements used in the Tabernacle (Exod 27:3; 38:3; Num 4:14) and the Temple (1 Chron 28:17; 2 Chron 4:16). A three-pronged instrument was used by the priest to remove the portion of meat due him from the boiling pot (1 Sam 2:13, 14). It is not clear whether this is the same instrument as above since the vocalization of the word is different.
