HAKKOZ hăk’ ŏz (הַקֹּ֑וץ, thorn). 1. The eponym of a priestly family whose descendants returned from the Babylonian captivity with Zerubbabel, but could not serve because they were unable to document their claim to priestly rank (1 Chron 24:10; Ezra 2:61, KJV KOZ; Neh 3:4, 21; 7:63, KJV all KOZ; 1 Esd 5:38, KJV ACCOZ, ASV AKKOS).

2. One of Judah’s descendants (1 Chron 4:8 ASV); KJV has COZ and RSV KOZ.
