HIND (אַיָּלָה, H387, [fem] and אַיֶּ֨לֶת׃֙, [fem]. Hind, all Eng. VSS except Ps 29:9, “The voice of the Lord maketh the hinds to calve” KJV; “the oaks to whirl” RSV). “Hind” is the female of hart, meaning female (red) deer of third year and upwards. See Hart and Deer.
