Ridge of Judea

RIDGE OF JUDEA (ὁ πρίων τῆς ̓Ιουδαίας). A geographical term of uncertain meaning. According to the Book of Judith Holofernes brought an enormous army from Nineveh to Pal. “Then he came to the edge of Esdraelon, near Dothan, fronting the great ridge of Judea,” and there he camped for a month as he waited for supplies (Judg 3:9). It has been suggested that there is a textual error here, but if there is, it is not known what the correct reading might be.
