The prophet joins two images for the dwelling place of God, a garden (Gen. 2; 3) and a mountain (20:40; Ex. 19:23; Deut. 33:2; Ps. 43:3; 48:1; 87:1; 99:9; Is. 27:13; 56:7; 57:13; 66:20). The temple was built on a mountain and was decorated with floral motifs (40:16–37; 41:18–20, 25–27; 1 Kin. 6:29, 32, 35; 7:18, 20, 22, 36, 42; 2 Chr. 3:5).
