7:16 do not pray. Such prohibition is ominous because one of the prophetic roles was to intercede (Abraham served as an intercessor, Gen. 20:7; and Moses, Ex. 32:11–14). The prohibition is repeated at 11:14 (compare 15:1; 1 John 5:16).
