9:24–34 A second investigation with the healed man brings no new facts to light, but the investigators’ position is hardened. The Pharisees call Jesus a “sinner” (v. 24) whose origin is unknown (v. 29), and they excommunicate the man whose replies only irritate them (vv. 27, 30). His replies are to the point: The man born blind had been healed, and “God does not listen to sinners” (v. 31).
