5:4, 5 the earth trembled . . . before the Lord. God is pictured as a warrior who fights by means of the created elements. The portrayal of God as ruling the storm is doubly appropriate: by defeating Sisera with a cloudburst (v. 20) God refutes Baal’s claim to be lord of the storm.
