10:17–20 Aaron and his sons had offered two sin offerings (v. 19; cf. 9:8–17): one for Aaron, the blood of which was sprinkled in the holy place and the remainder burned (4:6, 12), and one for the people, the blood of which was sprinkled on the altar of burnt offering in the courtyard and which was then to be eaten by the priests (6:25, 26). Normally he and his sons should have eaten the meat of the people’s sin offering to complete the atonement process, but they had not.
