26:26–29 In the old covenant, the Passover meal was a memorial celebration of Israel’s deliverance from Egypt. By transforming His last Passover meal to institute the Lord’s Supper, Jesus shows the consistent focus on redemption throughout God’s revelation. The Lord’s Supper demonstrates the essential continuity between the old and the new covenants by revealing that the true meaning of the Passover lies in the deliverance effected by Jesus’ death.
