135:15 The idols of the nations. The surrounding nations worshiped their gods by statues of wood and precious metals. The psalmist, like Isaiah (Is. 44), ridicules this practice. It is a crude and absurd example of taking a piece of creation and exalting it above the Creator (Rom. 1:21–23).
