Ps. 55 Like many laments, this psalm bemoans the attack of enemies. Most unusual is the sorrow over betrayal by a friend. The psalm descends to the pits of despair, but turns at the end toward the Lord with hope. The psalm anticipates the suffering of Christ, who was betrayed by Judas, a disciple of His inner circle (Matt. 26:47–56).
