6:5 four winds of heaven. The Hebrew word for “wind” can mean “spirit.” Zechariah may be intentionally drawing on that ambiguity to say that as the winds cover the earth, so the angels of God cover the earth with God’s presence (cf. v. 8 note).

the Lord of all the earth. The sovereign God commands His heavenly hosts to do His will (4:14 note).
