Saul said to his servant, “That is a good idea. Let’s go.” So they went to the town where the man of God was. Saul and the servant asked the young women, “Is the seer here?” (In the past, people in Israel called a prophet a “seer.” So if they wanted to ask something from God, they would say, “Let’s go to the seer.”)

“All right,” Saul agreed, “let’s try it!” So they started into the city where the prophet lived. (In those days prophets were called seers. “Let’s go and ask the seer,” people would say, rather than, “Let’s go and ask the prophet,” as we would say now.)

As they went up the ascent to the city, they found young maidens going out to draw water, and said to them, “Is the seer here?”
And when they went up into the highness of the city, they found damsels going out to draw water, and they said to the damsels, Whether the seer is here? (Is the seer here?)
They are going up in the ascent of the city, and have found young women going out to draw water, and say to them, `Is the seer in this [place]?'
