1 Timothy 3:8

Likewise must the deacons be serious, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for filthy lucre,
Deacons in like manner must be grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
Deacons likewise must be men worthy of respect [honorable, financially ethical, of good character], not double-tongued [speakers of half-truths], not addicted to wine, not greedy for dishonest gain,
In like manner the deacons [must be] worthy of respect, not shifty and double-talkers but sincere in what they say, not given to much wine, not greedy for base gain [craving wealth and resorting to ignoble and dishonest methods of getting it].
Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
Deacons, likewise, should be worthy of respect, not hypocritical, not drinking a lot of wine, not greedy for money,
In the same way, servants in the church should be dignified, not two-faced, heavy drinkers, or greedy for money.
Likewise, the shammashim must be of good character, people whose word can be trusted. They must not give themselves to excessive drinking or be greedy for dishonest gain.
Church officers should be serious. They must not be liars, heavy drinkers, or greedy for money.
Ministers, in like manner, grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not seeking gain by base means,
Deacons similarly must be honorable, not double-tongued, not paying-attention-to much wine, not fond-of-shameful-gain,
Deacons in like manner chaste, not double tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre:
In the same way, the men who are chosen to be special servants must have the respect of others. They must not be men who say things they don’t mean or who spend their time drinking too much. They must not be men who will do almost anything for money.
In the same way, deacons must live good lives, so that people respect them. They must not be hypocrites. They must not drink too much wine. They must not want to get a lot of money for themselves.
In the same way, it is necessary that deacons be dignified, not deceitful, not devoted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain—
Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain.
Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain.
In the same way, deacons must be ·respected by others [dignified], not ·saying things they do not mean [insincere; two-faced; deceitful]. They must not drink too much wine or ·try to get rich by cheating others [be greedy for money/profit].
Likewise must Deacons be grave, not double tongued, not given unto much wine, neither to filthy lucre,
Deacons must also be of good character. They must not be two-faced or addicted to alcohol. They must not use shameful ways to make money.
Church helpers must also have a good character and be sincere; they must not drink too much wine or be greedy for money;
Deacons, likewise, should be worthy of respect, not hypocritical, not drinking a lot of wine, not greedy for money,
In the same way, deacons must be men that people can respect. They must not say things they do not mean. They must not use their time drinking too much wine, and they must not be men who are always trying to get rich by cheating others.
Deacons, too, must be serious. They must not be two-faced, addicted to wine, or greedy for money.
Deacons, similarly, should be men of serious outlook and sincere conviction. They too should be temperate and not greedy for money. They should hold the faith as a sacred trust, with complete sincerity. Let them serve a period of probation first, and only serve as deacons if they prove satisfactory. Their wives should share their serious outlook, and must be women of discretion and self-control—women who can be trusted. Deacons should be men with only one wife, able to control their children and manage their own households properly. Those who do well as deacons earn for themselves a certain legitimate standing, as well as gaining confidence and freedom in the Christian faith.
¶ Likewise the deacons must be honest, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of dishonest gain;
Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not indulging in much wine, not fond of dishonest gain,
Deacons likewise must be dignified, not insincere, not devoted to much wine, not fond of dishonest gain,
The deacons must be the same sort of good, steady men as the pastors. They must not be heavy drinkers and must not be greedy for money.
The same goes for those who want to be servants in the church: serious, not deceitful, not too free with the bottle, not in it for what they can get out of it. They must be reverent before the mystery of the faith, not using their position to try to run things. Let them prove themselves first. If they show they can do it, take them on. No exceptions are to be made for women—same qualifications: serious, dependable, not sharp-tongued, not overfond of wine. Servants in the church are to be committed to their spouses, attentive to their own children, and diligent in looking after their own affairs. Those who do this servant work will come to be highly respected, a real credit to this Jesus-faith.
Likewise deacons must be serious, not insincere, not given to much wine, not greedy,
Deacons, likewise, must be dignified, not gossips, not addicted to wine, not greedy for gain,
Deacons must also be of good character. They must not be two-faced or addicted to alcohol. They must not use shameful ways to make money.
Similarly, deacons must be dignified, not deceitful, not addicted to drink, not greedy for sordid gain,
Deacons likewise must be men of dignity, not insincere, not prone to drink much wine, not greedy for money,
Deacons likewise must be men of dignity, not double-tongued, or addicted to much wine or fond of sordid gain,
Similarly, deacons must exhibit a sense of dignity, not indulging in double-talk or excessive consumption of wine, and not being greedy.
In the same way, deacons must be respected by others, not saying things they do not mean. They must not drink too much wine or try to get rich by cheating others.
Deacons likewise must be dignified, not two-faced, not given to excessive drinking, not greedy for gain,
In the same way, deacons must be worthy of respect. They must be honest and true. They must not drink too much wine. They must not try to get money by cheating people.
In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain.
In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain.
Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money,
Church helpers must also be good men and act so people will respect them. They must speak the truth. They must not get drunk. They must not have a love for money.
In the same way, deacons must be well respected and have integrity. They must not be heavy drinkers or dishonest with money.
Likewise must deacons be honourable: not double-tongued, not given to much drinking, nor to the love of money,
Deacons likewise must be serious, not double-tongued, not indulging in much wine, not greedy for money;
Deacons likewise must be serious, not double-tongued, not indulging in much wine, not greedy for money;
Deacons likewise must be serious, not double-tongued, not indulging in much wine, not greedy for money;
Deacons likewise must be serious, not double-tongued, not indulging in much wine, not greedy for money;
In the same way, deacons must be serious-minded, not the sort of people who say one thing today and another tomorrow, not heavy drinkers, not eager for shameful gain.
Messianic Shammashim similarly must be respectable men of derech eretz, not double-tongued, the Shammash not a shikkor (drunkard) indulging in much wine, not a lover of dishonest gain,
Likewise, deacons must be honorable—not duplicitous or given to much wine or to greed—
Deacons likewise must be serious, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for gain;
Deacons likewise must be serious, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for gain;
Servant-leaders likewise must be dignified, not double-speaking, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain.
The same standards apply to deacons: they should be dignified. Double-talking hypocrites, heavy drinkers, and those greedy for ill-gotten gain should not be considered.
Servants, in the same way, must be reverent, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for money,
In the same way, the leader's helpers must be men whom people respect. They must not say one thing one time and something different another time. They must not drink too much wine. They must not try to get rich in wrong ways.
Also it behooveth deacons to be chaste, not double-tongued, not given much to wine [not given to much wine], not following foul winning;
Ministrants -- in like manner grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not given to filthy lucre,
