And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren; and his mother called his name Jabez [that is, Sorrowful], saying, “Because I bore him with sorrow.”
And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers; but his mother named him Jabez, saying, “Because I gave birth to him in pain.”
Jabez was honorable above his brothers; but his mother named him Jabez [sorrow maker], saying, Because I bore him in pain.
¶ And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
Jabez was more honored than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez and said, “I gave birth to him in pain.”
Jabez was more honored than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I bore him in pain.”
Ya‘betz was honored more than his brothers; his mother called him Ya‘betz, she explained, “because I bore him in pain .”
Jabez was a man who got his name because of the pain he caused his mother during birth. But he was still the most respected son in his family.
And Jabez was more honoured than his brethren; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bore him with pain.
And Jabes was more honourable than any of his brethren, and his mother called his name Jabes, saying: Because I bore him with sorrow.
Jabez was a very good man, who was better than his brothers. His mother said, “I have named him Jabez because I was in much pain when I had him.”
Another of Judah's descendants was called Jabez. People respected him more than his brothers. His mother called him Jabez, because she said, ‘I had a lot of pain at his birth.’
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because she said, “I gave birth to him with pain.”
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”
Jabez was more honourable than his brothers; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”
There was a man named Jabez, who was more ·respected [honorable; honored; known] than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez [C sounds like the word for “pain”] because she said, “I was in much pain when I gave birth to him.”
But Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him in sorrow.
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez [Painful], because she said that his birth was painful.
There was a man named Jabez, who was the most respected member of his family. His mother had given him the name Jabez, because his birth had been very painful.
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez and said, “I gave birth to him in pain.”
There was a man named Jabez. He was respected more than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because she said, “I was in much pain when I gave birth to him.”
Jabez enjoyed more honor than his relatives—his mother named him Jabez, she said, “because I bore him in pain.”
And Jabez was more honoured than his brethren, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I gave birth to him with sorrow.
And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.

Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother named him Jabez saying, “Because I bore him with pain.”

Jabez was more distinguished than any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because she had such a hard time at his birth (Jabez means “Distress”).
Jabez was a better man than his brothers, a man of honor. His mother had named him Jabez (Oh, the pain!), saying, “A painful birth! I bore him in great pain!” Jabez prayed to the God of Israel: “Bless me, O bless me! Give me land, large tracts of land. And provide your personal protection—don’t let evil hurt me.” God gave him what he asked. * * *
Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in hardship.”
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez [Painful], because she said that his birth was painful.
Jabez was the most distinguished of his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I bore him with pain.”
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother named him Jabez, saying, “Because I gave birth to him in pain.”
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother named him Jabez saying, “Because I bore him with pain.”
Jabez was the most honorable of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because she said, “I bore him with pain.”

Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”

Jabez was more honorable than his brothers; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”
Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez saying, “Because I bore him with pain.”
Jabez, whose name commemorates his mother’s labor pains, was more honorable than his brothers.
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him with sorrow.”
And Jabez was noble before all his brethren; and his mother called his name Jabez, and said, For I childed him in sorrow. (And Jabez was more respected than all his brothers; and his mother called him Jabez, or He who maketh sorrow, saying, For I gave birth to him in pain.)
And Jabez is honoured above his brethren, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, `Because I have brought forth with grief.'
