They preferred Alexander because he had been the first to speak peaceful words to them. So they remained his allies all of his days.
And their inclinations were towards Alexander, because he had been the chief promoter of peace in their regard, and him they always helped.
They preferred to give their allegiance to Alexander because he had been the first to open peace negotiations, and they remained his allies as long as he lived.
They therefore decided in favor of Alexander, for he had been the first to address them peaceably, and they remained his allies for the rest of his life.
They favored Alexander, for he had been the first to make peaceful overtures to them, and they remained his allies throughout his life.
They favoured Alexander, because he had been the first to speak peaceable words to them, and they remained his allies all his days.
